The role


The DevOps Lead / Web-stack Developer will contribute to the Affinio mission by supporting the Product team efforts to align client needs with system performance and app capabilities. This person will have a strong back-end focus for supporting both the maintenance of legacy products and the evolution of Affinio’s portfolio of next generation privacy-compliant data analytics and collaboration. The ideal candidate will be a motivated, talented and self-directed contributor. 


This opportunity is full-time, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer. 



What you'll be doing


You’ll intake user stories created by the Product team, working in 2-week sprints.



Specifically


  • Planning tasks from requirements, estimating effort, and updating on status
  • Building high quality and maintainable feature code
  • Developing systems backend architectures 
  • Working with and setting up multiple database types (SQL, NoSQL) and schemas 
  • Managing CI/CD pipelines and/or Kubernetes architecture as needed
  • Collaborating with other developers and reviewing code
  • Participating in daily stand-ups, bi-weekly sprint planning, and sprint retrospectives 
  • Assisting with ISO-related procedures
  • Other duties as required



What we're looking for


  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Science or related field 
  • 3+ years of web-stack software development
  • Strong proficiency with Java and/or Scala
  • Knowledge of Serverless Systems Architecture
  • Familiarity with cloud service architectures like Azure or AWS
  • Experience with API-building and knowledge of best-practices, and dealing with large datasets
  • Experience with Snowflake, Kubernetes, Docker, Spinnaker, Github Actions, and Cloudwatch is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with code versioning tools (e.g. git)
  • Experience managing progress using project management tools (e.g. Jira, Clubhouse.io)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Openness to feedback from greater Product/Development team
  • Ownership for making sure issues are resolved 
  • Ability to balance scrappiness/speed with quality/scalability
  • Good time-management skills
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)
  • Desire to document and test code
